SUSAN WHYNE- ENTRANCES

SUSAN WHYNE
ENTRANCES
1969-1977

Opening Reception: Friday, Feb 20th, 2015, 6-8pm

Exhibition runs through March 27th, 2015.

Entrances by Susan Whyne is a selection of work made when she was living in the San Francisco Bay area between 1969-1977. A transplant from New York at the time, Whyne was stirred by the new experience of blocks of endless front yards with unexpected arrangements of forms, patterns, and color. The small-scale works on paper combine landscape and architecture to the effect of mysterious sculptural associations.

Susan Whyne lives in Austin, TX and recently retired from her position as associate professor of painting at the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently presenting a solo exhibition at FRONT Gallery (Houston, TX,) and has previously exhibited at Texas Gallery, (Houston, TX;) the Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston; and the New Museum (New York City.) Whyne holds a BFA from Cooper Union and an MFA from San Francisco State University.
