BRADLEY KERL- BLIND ARCADE
Opening Reception: Friday, January 9th, 2015, 6-8pm
Exhibition runs through February 14th, 2015.
The paintings and collages in Blind Arcade occupy the psychological space between sincere and impossible. Bradley Kerl’s newest body of work subverts traditional landscapes and still-lifes with the frame of an archway, challenging the veracity of otherwise candid pictures. Through this device, Kerl transforms the viewing process into a precarious exercise, creating scenes just friendly enough to enter.
On days when Bradley isn’t working from his studio/living space north of downtown, he teaches painting at area community colleges and works as a studio assistant. He recently earned his MFA from the University of Houston and has since been significantly involved in the unique culture of emerging contemporary art in Houston.
