spinning under trees, a solo exhibition of drawings, video, painting, collage, and photography by Charlie Morris, explores the depersonalized distance caused by an excess of text, images, and other media. With a focus on how public and private interests are transmitted and received between commercial mediums and the general public, spinning under treesaddresses the recursive relationship between a seeming forest of propaganda and the quality of collective consciousness it effects.
Charlie received his MFA from The University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. His accolades include solo exhibitions at Artpace (San Antonio, TX,) DynamoExpo (Enschede, The Netherlands,) and McNay Museum of Art (San Antonio, TX).His work has been included in group exhibitions at i8 Gallery (Reykjavík, Iceland,) Galeria-Contrast (Barcelona, Spain,) and I-Space (Chicago, IL.) Charlie currently lives and works as a professor and practicing artist in Houston, Texas.
