ART PALACE presents “On Virgin Land”, a rowdy, riotous exhibition by Austin artist Ali Fitzgerald. Not to be mistaken for barren terrain and dewy sunsets, this work represents the oversized and spectacle that is truly Texas. In her colossal unstretched canvases, Fitzgerald combines superb draftsmanship with an unforgettable cast of characters from Orgasmic Annie to Marina Walker the 18 Wheeler. From floor to ceiling, Fitzgerald crafts a universe very much her own.

Ali Fitzgerald’s work was recently on view at Project Row Houses (Houston), Jacob Lawrence Studio (Skowhegan), Creative Research Lab (Austin), 500X Gallery (Dallas), 2005 Texas Biennial (Austin); and is currently on view at Diverse Works (Houston). An MFA candidate at University of Texas Austin, Ali received a BA from Davidson College, attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine.

Art Palace is located at 2109 E. Cesar Chavez St. (next door to Taqeria Chapala) between Chicon and Robert Martinez. Gallery Hours: Saturday noon to 5pm, Thursday 7 to 9pm and by appointment.
