TEXAS REDISTRICTING
Documentary Fundraiser April 8th
“Texas Redistricting,” a documentary, chronicles three 2004 Congressional races after the unusual 2003 mid-decade redistricting, involving Texas legislators fleeing the state, Homeland Security, and Tom DeLay. Interviews with legislators, Congressional candidates, and noted experts will be interwoven with informative animation to explore the process and effects of redistricting on Texas, the nation, and what it all means to you!
Date: Saturday, April 8, 2006 Time: 6:30-9:30pm Cost: Free ($10 suggested donation) Location: Art Palace, 2109 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX 78702 (Next door to Taqueria Chapala, and/or 1.5 blocks from the original Mr. Natural)
Producers Shaune Kolber and Allegra McCoy are currently in post-production on their first feature documentary, “Texas Redistricting,” which they are co-writing and co-directing.
There will be great art donated by local artists for sale in a silent auction, great music from DJ Slim Onyx, and, of course, food and beer. Also, we’ll be screening our current trailer for “Texas Redistricting” during the fundraiser. Come out to see it and support local filmmakers. All proceeds from the event go to support post-production and completion of the film. Admission is FREE, ($10 suggested donation, or give what you can). All donations are MUCH APPRECIATED!
Also, we’re happy to announce that our “Texas Redistricting” project has moved on to Phase II of the ITVS Open Call. Independent Television Service is one of the largest funders for Public Television and funds 1%-2% of all grant proposals. We’ll hear about the results at the end of April.
